It consists of a PP film-fabric composite backing with a modified acrylate adhesive and offers practical, differentiated adhesion: strong toward the carpet, weaker toward the subfloor. This ensures a secure hold for the flooring while allowing for largely residue-free removal from the subfloor for up to 5 years. The tape is highly resistant to aging and plasticizers and does not cause discoloration of PVC or CV flooring. The side with the stronger adhesive is covered with white release paper and can be torn off by hand, making it particularly convenient to use on construction sites.

Key Features

tesafix® 51960 Professional Double-Sided Adhesive Installation Tape

Backing material: fiber-reinforced PP film (PP film-fabric composite backing)

Adhesive: modified acrylate

Color: white-translucent

Thickness: 248 µm

Dimensions: 25 m x 50 mm (1 roll)

Differentiated adhesive strength: strong on carpet, weaker on the subfloor

Strong hold on the flooring for up to 5 years

Can be removed from the subfloor with virtually no residue

Can be torn by hand for easy installation

Resistant to aging and plasticizers; does not cause discoloration of PVC/CV flooring

Plasticizer resistance: moderate

Chemical resistance: very good

Moisture resistance: very good

Static shear strength at 23 °C: medium; at 40 °C: low

Temperature resistance: long-term: 60 °C, short-term: 120 °C

Initial tack: good

Elongation at break: 80%; Tensile strength: 30 N/cm

Adhesion to PE (initial): 3 N/cm; after 14 days: 3.5 N/cm

Adhesion to PE (covered side, initial): 4.5 N/cm

Adhesion to PE (covered side, after 14 days): 5.1 N/cm

Adhesive strength on PP (initial): 3.5 N/cm; covered side (initial): 4.2 N/cm

Adhesive strength on steel (initial): 4.7 N/cm

Adhesion strength on steel (after 14 days): 6.6 N/cm

Adhesive strength on steel (covered side, initial): 9 N/cm

Adhesive strength on steel (covered side, after 14 days): 13.7 N/cm

Applications

Edge and seam bonding of carpet with foam backing

Bonding of carpet flooring with textile backing

Installation of PVC and CV flooring

Use on skim-coated subfloors

Installation over ceramic flooring

Application on existing PVC floors

Installation over wood planks

Suitable for sensitive subfloors such as hardwood

Summary

The tesa Professional tesafix® 51960 Professional Installation Tape is the ideal solution for permanently securing flooring while leaving virtually no residue.
