The PP film-fabric composite backing with a modified acrylate adhesive provides practical, differentiated adhesion: strong to the carpet, weaker to the subfloor. This ensures the flooring remains securely fixed but can be removed from the subfloor with minimal residue. The tape is highly resistant to aging and plasticizers and prevents discoloration on PVC/CV floors. The side with the stronger adhesive is covered with white release paper, making application particularly convenient. Thanks to its high resistance to chemicals and moisture, as well as temperature resistance up to 60 °C (120 °C for short periods), tesafix® 51960 is ideal for professional use with a service life of up to 5 years.

Key Features

Professional installation tape for carpet and PVC/CV flooring

Practical, differentiated adhesive strength: strong on the carpet, weaker on the subfloor

Strong hold on the flooring, removable with virtually no residue

Backing material: PP film, fiber-reinforced (PP film-fabric composite backing)

Adhesive: modified acrylate

Color: white-translucent

Thickness: 248 µm

Dimensions: 25 m x 50 mm

Resistant to aging and plasticizers; does not cause discoloration of PVC/CV flooring

Can be torn by hand, easy to apply

Strong adhesion for up to 5 years

Elongation at break: 80%, tensile strength: 30 N/cm

Chemical resistance: very good

Moisture resistance: very good

Plasticizer resistance: moderate

Static shear strength: moderate at 23 °C, low at 40 °C

Initial tack: good

Temperature resistance: long-term: 60 °C, short-term: 120 °C

Adhesion to PE (initial): 3 N/cm, after 14 days: 3.5 N/cm

Adhesion to PE (covered side, initial): 4.5 N/cm, after 14 days: 5.1 N/cm

Adhesion to PP (initial): 3.5 N/cm, covered side (initial): 4.2 N/cm

Adhesion to steel (initial): 4.7 N/cm, after 14 days: 6.6 N/cm

Adhesive strength on steel (covered side, initial): 9 N/cm, covered side after 14 days: 13.7 N/cm

Applications

Edge and seam bonding of carpet flooring with foam and textile backing

Installation of PVC and CV floor coverings

Use on skim-coated subfloors

Use on ceramic flooring

Installation over existing PVC floors

Use on hardwood floors

Installation on sensitive subfloors, e.g., hardwood floors

Professional flooring installation in commercial and residential settings

Summary

tesafix® 51960 Professional Installation Tape offers maximum reliability when installing carpet and PVC/CV flooring, combining strong, long-lasting adhesion with virtually residue-free removal, and impresses with its high resistance to aging, moisture, chemicals, and temperature fluctuations—the ideal choice for demanding installation projects.

For more information, please refer to the data sheets

https://altruan.com/products/tesa-professional-51960-professional-installation-tape-removable-white-translucent-25-m-x-50-mm-item-no-51960-00002-00-1-roll
