The PV1 variant is specifically designed for low unwinding force, making it particularly user-friendly. The tape is ideal for the production of stamped parts and is primarily used in the automotive industry for covering holes. Thanks to its high tensile strength (105 N/cm), excellent puncture resistance, and strong adhesion to a wide variety of substrates, it delivers reliable performance even at high temperatures up to 180 °C (30 min). The acrylate-coated fabric structure is flexible, colorfast, solvent-resistant, abrasion-resistant, and water-resistant, making tesa® 4657 ideal for permanent applications. The tape can be torn by hand, offers a very clean, straight tear edge, is writable, and can be removed without leaving any residue, even after exposure to high temperatures. A yellow glassine paper with a thickness of 76 µm is used as the release liner.

Key Features

Backing material: acrylate-coated cotton fabric

Fabric density: 145 mesh (threads/inch²)

Adhesive: thermosetting natural rubber

Total tape thickness: 290 µm

Cover type: paper, thickness 76 µm, color: yellow

Adhesive strength on steel: 4.6 N/cm

Tensile strength: 105 N/cm, elongation at break: 7.5%

Temperature resistance (30 min.): 180 °C

Water resistance: good; abrasion resistance: very good

Die-cuttability: yes; liner release force: 0.3 N/cm

Tearability by hand and straight tear edge: very good

Markability: yes; easy to unroll (PV1)

Tape color: gray

Available sizes: 50 m x 19 mm; 50 m x 25 mm; 50 m x 50 mm

Applications

Temporary and permanent covering of holes in automotive production (interior and exterior)

Masking during industrial painting processes

Partial masking during treatment with impregnating agents

Covering threaded holes and drain holes

Securing flat cables, e.g., to headliners, door panels, and mirrors

Splicing in reel-to-reel production

Manufacturing of stamped parts with high dimensional stability

Summary

tesaband 4657 PV1 is a gray, easy-to-unroll, acrylate-coated fabric tape with a thermosetting natural rubber adhesive that offers an extremely robust, temperature- and abrasion-resistant solution for professional masking, fastening, and stamping applications—ideal for anyone seeking a product that combines reliable performance, ease of use, and residue-free removal.

For more information, please refer to the data sheets
